Amy’s incredible gold medal winning performances on her sled, “Arthur”, in the skeleton bob at the Vancouver Winter Olympics have been a cause of much celebration the length and breadth of Britain!
 
Our very own Sarah McCann,  pictured here to the right of the “Queen of Speed”, is understandably especially proud since she is Amy’s cousin and she and her family have been following her fortunes for more than one Winter Olympics.
 
Amy has wowed us all with her gutsy bravado and skill as she hurtled down the track at speeds approaching  90  mph withstanding massive G-forces  and  away from the competition she is proving to have real star quality too with her  natural charm and easy down to earth manner.

Many congratulations Amy.  We hope you have a well deserved rest and all best wishes for next season!

On a day that seemed more suited to bog-snorkelling than marathon running the 25th Wokingham Half Marathon, which Clifton Ingram were pleased to sponsor this year, turned out to be one of the most successful ever.

 Records were broken in the men’s race, by Jean Ndyasenga of Burundi, and by Richard Whitehead a double amputee who shaved 1 minute 47 seconds off the world record.  Liz Yelling from Dorset won the women’s race and the trophies were presented by our own Tina Crow, Partner and Head of Residential Property who won no medals for her athletic achievements but thoroughly enjoyed the day. She said “Clifton Ingram is very pleased to take part and believes it’s very important to be involved with community activities.”

There were 2,500 people taking part in what is becoming one of the main highlights of the Wokingham calendar. Clifton Ingram Sport Partner, Tris Moore,  also competed in the race in a very respectable time although he complained that the birth of his son only 10 days before had interrupted his normal training regime. No such excuses next year Tris.

Jonathan Davis Settles Tricky Footballer Injury Claim

Jonathan Davis has negotiated a significant out of court settlement on behalf of a footballer who suffered a serious leg break when he was fouled whilst playing in an amateur football match. The player who committed the foul had been sent off for the offence.

The case was complicated by difficult arguments over what constitutes negligence in the context of a contact sport and turned on the referee

New modern offices at County House on Friar Street were opened on 3rd August to complement our more traditional offices in Wokingham and we are looking forward to getting closer to some of our clients and professional contacts in Reading.

The opening of the new office was celebrated on 10th September with a champagne reception, attended by members of the Berkshire business community.

The Maxxis, ACU British Motocross Championship will be coming to Foxhill, Swindon on Sunday July 26th. Twenty plus World Championship riders will line up against our own, UK talent for what is now recognised as Europe

Looking Fresh at the Start!

Clifton Ingram Sports Lawyer, Tris Moore, has successfully completed his first Ironman (essentially an extension of a “normal” triathlon by increasing the overall race distance to 70 miles – not for the faint hearted!).

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps, Tris competed over 70.3 miles of open water, mountain cycle track and road, but he was never in the frame for the prize of qualification for the World Ironman Championships at Clearwater in Florida.

Although being hit by a flailing elbow during the swim section resulted in a slight set back for Tris, he recovered sufficiently and, despite the considerable heat, he successfully completed the course at Rapperswil-Jona, Lake of Zurich.

The first professional completed the course in a mind boggling 3 hours 52 minutes, but for a chastened Tris, a more sedate jog in the park with the rest of the amateurs now beckons!
